RE
At Doveridge Primary School the aim of teaching RE is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldwide views address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own. Our R.E. curriculum is based upon Derbyshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (2020-2025). It provides the legal framework for a syllabus for Religious Education for Derby City and Derbyshire schools.
Mrs Evans is the subject Lead for this subject.
During their time at Doveridge Primary, our children explore worldwide faiths including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Islam.
Over the past few years to enrich our RE curriculum, we have taken our pupils to the Open Centre in Derby and visited places of worship such as the Mosque, the Sikh Gurdwara and the Hindu temple. We have taken part in World Religion Day and a visitor from the synagogue has led workshops within school. We have close links with our local church and visit for our annual Nativity and Easter services. Each year we participate in whole school events to celebrate Festivals, World Cultural and Religion Days for example, Chinese New Year, Harvest, Christmas, Diwali, Shrove Tuesday, Mothering Sunday and Remembrance.
