Class 1: Outdoor Learning Environment
We are very lucky to have access to a lovely outdoor learning space in Class 1. Our Nursery and Reception children have free-flow access to the area, as part of the extended classroom.
The environment is designed to encourage learning in all areas of the foundation stage curriculum and allow opportunities to extend and consolidate learning from inside the classroom.
We believe that Outdoor learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is crucial for children's development. It promotes physical activity, enhances gross and fine motor skills, and fosters creativity and exploration. Nature-rich environments stimulate curiosity, problem-solving, and sensory experiences, supporting cognitive development. Outdoor learning also encourages social skills, teamwork, and communication as children interact with peers in open-ended play. Additionally, being outdoors improves emotional well-being, reduces stress, and boosts resilience.
