Class 1: New Starters September 2024

Here at Doveridge Primary we strive for all children and parents to feel happy, safe and ready for their first days at school. We strongly believe that an effective transition is essential when building those important relationships.

Meeting you and your child is really important to us and we like to give you plenty of opportunities to do so.

During the Summer Term, our EYFS Team will arrange to visit the children in their current settings and begin to build those important relationships. Parents are also invited to a ‘Welcome Meeting’ to meet the team who will support and work alongside your child which will include the school nurse and the catering team.

We pride ourselves on our Transition to school and begin the Transition during the Summer Term so then the children have a seamless transition to school. Each week, the children attend on alternative Tuesdays and Thursday to allow the children to meet all their Class Teachers.

Towards to end of the Summer Term we will then welcome all children and parents to our ‘Stay and Play’ session in our Classroom environment in the morning and then an afternoon in the Forest. These sessions give the staff, children and parents a chance to get to know each other a little better, whilst having lots of fun together! This also will allow parents the chance to share key information e.g. their likes, dislikes, allergies, SEND information etc and help parents, teachers and children feel fully prepared and supported for their first day at school.
